Delta mutations are known to be up to 2.4 times more contagious than conventional viruses. In Korea, the Delta mutation detection rate among confirmed cases in the region was 9.9%, about three times higher than the previous week.

The metropolitan area is higher at 12.7%. Those in their 20s and 30s, which have the largest number of confirmed cases, account for 32%, raising concerns.

Quarantine authorities warned it would be the dominant species next month.

In the UK, the symptoms of Delta mutation infections are different from those of conventional infections.

The quarantine authorities, however, said that the incubation test showed no significant difference from the existing virus within 10 days of the outbreak.
