Jimin however, doesn’t necessarily take on a completely separate persona, but rather extremely exaggerates his best qualities, and even distorts them to a degree that benefits himself immensely. This is why his image feels more corrupted to me, like a sell-out almost. He clearly likes to steal the spotlight, be it when dancing, be it in interviews, in concerts with his overly sexual behavior, and especially in v lives when he inserts himself in whatever is going on at the moment. He is extremely charismatic and he knows how to get people’s attention and how he has to act to appear whatever way he wants them to perceive him, which is why his song “Filter” is probably the most fitting song for someone like him. Some people have called it manipulating. I don’t think he manipulates the members, not all of them at least, but he certainly does it with everyone he gets the chance to, especially the GP and interviewers. I’m sure he’s way more calculated and cunning that we’d like to think. He knows that on an international level sex sells and that in Korea cutesy behaviour is the way to go, and that’s exactly what he’s known for.
