Diet soda can increase your risk of heart disease
Studies show that diet soda can be harmful to heart health. “Diet soda often contains artificial sweeteners, which can have a harmful effect on blood sugar levels and insulin sensitivity,” said Alice Williams, a physician at the internal medicine department. “Also, diet soda tends to be acidic, which can promote inflammation and contribute to heart disease.”
In addition, Williams noted that a study found a tendency to increase vascular disease when drinking diet soda every day. Vascular diseases related to soda refer to stroke and myocardial infarction.
